Are there any discounts for military personnel/first responders/healthcare workers?

It has been a while since I last logged in and I have forgotten my username.

If you signed up for your account before March 1st, 2016, then your username will most likely be your email address. After March 1st, 2016 usernames were not mandated to be email addresses.

What are the system requirements?

A broadband internet connection and an up-to-date browser. Due to the size of the videos and interactives in the courses an internet connection of 12+ Mbps is recommended for optimal viewing. To view the full resolution 360° videos in the 360° Virtual Field Trips an internet connection of 60+ Mbps is recommended.

I used up all of my password attempts and am locked out of my account.

Your password tries will be reset every 6 hours or you can reset your password. If you no longer have access to the email on file or need access sooner please contact info@oceanfirsteducation.blue with your account email.

Can the courses be viewed on a mobile device?

Technically yes. We recommend viewing the courses on either a computer or a tablet, but the courses can be viewed on mobile devices.

I was able to access a course at home, but now I can’t log in at school.

Sometimes schools restrict internet access. If you are having trouble access a course on a school internet connection please email info@oceanfirsteducation.blue and your school’s I.T. department informing them of the problem.

I am trying to log back into my account, but am getting the error “Invalid login, please try again”.

The login page you are seeing is for I.T. access to the courses. To log back into your account you can go to https://oceanfirsteducation.blue/user/login.

I am interested in purchasing a course, but don’t live in the United States.

Great! Our payment system accepts all forms of currency and as long as you meet the system requirements you will be able to enjoy any of the courses! Also, we have partnered with SSI, one of the largest diving certifying organizations in the world, to offer a select number of courses in various languages. Do you follow the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) when collecting student data?

Yes, we do our best to follow FERPA. Student data is kept in secure databases to which only necessary personnel have direct access. Data can only be released to people who have a legitimate educational interest and at least until the student turns 18.

I'm a Special Education teacher and my students require features not always available with online platforms, what course features do you provide?

Course FAQ

How do I access the free Ocean Literacy course?

To access Ocean Literacy, please sign up for an account. Every account receives access to the Ocean Literacy course and an Explorer Series.

What grade level are the online courses?

The free Ocean Literacy course is appropriate for anyone above grade 3. The fish identification courses, coral courses, The Truth About Sharks, Marine Ecology, and Sea Turtle Ecology are recommended for grades 6 thru 12. Marine Science 101 and all other short courses are designed for grades 9 thru 12. Also, the grade band is listed on each individual course page.

The 360 Virtual Field Trips and 360 Lesson plans are grade level specific K thru 5th and banded grades 6 thru 8.

The Explorer Series are designed for grades K thru 5.

How long does it take to complete each course?

While it depends on implementation strategy, in general three to four weeks is required to complete a single short course. Marine Science 101 is designed to be a high school science elective, which can be completed in one semester or a full school year.

Is the course facilitated, or can I take it independently in my own time?

The courses can be completed independently, on your own timeline, or in a traditional classroom setting with an instructor, not provided by Ocean First Education. The courses are accessible online, implementation is flexible.

What is the cost?

To access our pricing for a single user, please enter our website as a Homeschool or Independent Learner from the “Who We Serve” dropdown menu on the homepage. Bulk pricing is available for greater than five students. Please contact us with inquiries.
